Does anyone know what is best Text to Voice AI tool which is free to use? Most of them that I've used are not really free because at one point, they ask for upgrade for me to keep using it.

I would very much be interested in finding one tool that's free for a long time or even if I have to pay for it, I would have used it to a good extent.

Which one's are the best you've used?

I hear you, it can be really frustrating when "free" tools suddenly hit you with an upgrade wall. One tool I’ve found that’s genuinely free for a decent amount of use is Natural Reader, it has a free version with pretty solid features. Another one worth checking out is Balabolka, it’s not super fancy, but it’s totally free and gets the job done for basic text-to-speech. I did not use it but I know about that tool.

If you’re okay with some limitations but want good quality, Google Text-to-Speech can work too, though it might not be as flexible for longer texts. For me, now a days ChatGPT works great as I do not need any other tool anymore.
ChatGPT has Text to Audio now which works great for free users too, there are many type of voices clones you can select and I even made a couple of youtube videos as well by using ChatGPT text to voice :)

Hope this helps, and I’m also curious if others have found a hidden gem out there that doesn’t come with those surprise fees!

Google Text-to-Speech is quite good, I’ve tried it once. It is a free application, simple to operate and available in many languages. The voices are also natural and clear. I have also come across that Amazon Polly. It's also good but I have not used it.

Thank you for sharing your experience! :) I agree, Google Text-to-Speech is pretty impressive for a free application. The simplicity and natural voices make it a great choice for many. I’ve heard good things about Amazon Polly too, it seems to be a solid option, especially for more advanced use cases. If you ever get a chance to try it, I’d love to hear how you think it compares to Google Text-to-Speech!

I also have found Google Text-to-Speech easy to use and it has worked for me for the limited needs I have.

This isn't a specific tool that can be used for anything, but if you take telephone calls or answer phone messages, VoIP Studio offers a brilliant voice-to-text and vice versa service that can be used for receiving/answering answer phone messages. They offer text-to-speech for live phone calls too, but only generally as part of their offering for deaf service users - although this still might meet your needs. Check the T&Cs though, as I'm unsure what their stance is for using the live telephone service for non-deaf service users.

Thank you for sharing such detailed insights, love how you have broken this down! 👏
Google Text-to-Speech is indeed a lifesaver for straightforward needs. It's simple, effective, and doesn't come with a 200-page manual to understand (thankfully!). :)

VoIP Studio sounds intriguing, especially with its voice-to-text and text-to-speech capabilities. I didn't even know they catered to live phone calls as part of their service for deaf users that's both innovative and inclusive. And you are absolutely right, the T&Cs can sometimes feel like they were written in another language, so a bit of careful reading is definitely in order!

Thanks again for the heads-up; I will definitely look into this. If you have more hidden gem tools like these up your sleeve, please do share with us as its good to know things we did not know before :)
